The SPMC Neurosurgery section continues to evolve not only in terms of training but also with the facilities being developed by the Department of Health in line with the Philippine administration’s Universal Health Care Act.
At present, the neurosurgery service receive consults and admission from an entire emergency medicine complex presenting with varied neurosurgical cases, a 7-bed capacity dedicated neurosurgery ICU, a 28-bed capacity neurosurgery ward, and other referred patients from multidisciplinary services housed in this 1500-bed capacity hospital. The ongoing construction of an Acute Care Center will create an addition of the following: 14-bed capacity neurosurgical ICU, and a 23-bed neurosurgery ward, 1 dedicated OR complex for open neurosurgery, and 1 dedicated OR complex for neurosurgical endoscopy and endovascular procedures.

Non-emergent cases or elective concerns will be entertained at the Outpatient Services department.
